Having boils on the children can be very shocking to the parent. Boil contains pus which is discharged with the blood when it matures. Boils are very contagious, so in cleaning them caution should be used so that the discharge does not touch the unaffected area of skin. As children are active than the adults, so they are more prone to have boil. Children who are playing in the mud and dirt can become easily infected with the boils as bacteria are entering into skin through wounds or cuts.
Boils also known as lesions are the skin infections. A staphylococcus aureus bacterium is the cause of the boils. Boils are swollen and painful red bumps which are on the surface of the skin which may go with pain and fever. Even though boils in the children do not present the serious problem, if the child is healthy as there is the risk that the child can become ill if the infection spreads.
Children having diabetes have more chances to contract the boils and another skin infection. Eczema is the inflammatory rash which affects the face, elbows, knees and arms. It can cause the boils. The itching, scratching, dryness and cracking caused by the eczema can increase the likelihood of the bacteria which are breaking through skin. The infants with this condition are more susceptible to have boils.
Boils can be caused because of weak immune system. If the immune system of a child is weak then his body can’t resist an attack of the bacteria which cause the boils. Boils which develop on the face of child especially around the nose or mouth can contain the bacteria which spread in to the bloodstream.
